World Translation center recently had the opportunity to work with Artgig Studio, creative and technical specialists for websites, and designers of children’s educational apps. We provided language translation and voice recordings into French, Russian and Castilian Spanish for one of their latest apps, Drive About: Number Neighborhood.
The app looked to me to be very interesting and fun and has also received a ‘Parents choice Silver’ award, http://www.parents-choice.org/product.cfm?product_id=32828&StepNum=1&award=aw , so I figured I would put it through a test with my 4yr old son to get a true professional opinion.
I proceeded to download the app to my iPad and show it to my son. I must say that I was very skeptical if this would capture his attention because he has been fixated on a baseball game app since he learned how to use the iPad.
The game takes the kids on a road map of games with a wide variety of interesting settings including my sons favorite, whale feeding, which uses a sling shot from a boat to feed the whale and count the number of times he eats. The game includes a wide variety of interesting settings where the kids can practice and learn numbers. The layout and design behind the game will definitely peak any kid’s interest and will help make learning numbers fun.
My son had asked to play the game every day since I downloaded it over a week ago and I can definitely tell that he’s learning his numbers. If our kids are going to use mobile devices to play games my thought is that they might as well learn something while doing so. Two thumbs up for Drive About: Number Neighborhood!
