Music plays an important role in our everyday lives and influences our mood. Happy music can make and keep us happy, sad music can intensify a sad outlook on life. Music is all around us and not a day passes without some kind of music in our life. Every commercial contains some music or a jingle and every TV show starts with a tune. Music is heard in many elevators, on busses, trains and airplanes. Music is taught in schools and every year there are awards for best musical performances and best performers and songs.
February 14th is Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated in many countries around the world. This day was first associated only with romantic love, but it has become a very commercial holiday.
Polls show that the average person spends between $50 (women) and $100 (men) on their Valentine, though 57 percent of men want sex instead of a gift this Valentine’s Day, while more women want a card. So much for chocolate!
One thing I consider a “must” while visiting family and friends in Spain, is to go to the cinema to watch nationally produced films. These films can often be difficult for me to find living in the U.S. Being married to a local Atlantan that makes his living in the film and television industry rubs off in some ways, and needless to say, it does so reciprocally. We both love to watch films together that are produced where we’re from.
